Summary:
• A novel combination of Inconel 625 and SiC precursor materials was employed to fabricate
MMC coatings on Ti-6Al-4V alloy using InssTek MX-Lab's laser surface alloying technology.

• This study utilized laser surface alloying to apply Inconel 625 & SiC onto a Ti-6Al-4V substrate and analyze
the resulting MMC coating's structures and properties. Different compositions of Inconel 625 & SiC were used to
evaluate the phase constituents, microstructure, composition distribution of the coatings, and mechanical properties.

• MMC coatings demonstrated excellent metallurgical bonding with substrate, and significantly enhanced microhardness by
more than 3 times and reduced wear by 95%. This study demonstrated the effective utilization of Inconel 625 & SiC alloying materials to enhance the surface properties of titanium alloys, thereby expanding their application in challenging environments.
