TiAl (Ti-48Al-2Cr-2Nb alloy) Deposition Test & Challenge

TiAl (Ti-48Al-2Cr-2Nb alloy) Deposition Test & Challenge ◇ Material (TiAl) Feature - It has excellent mechanical properties (tensile strength 500 MPa at 800°C)at a high temperature (600°C or higher), oxidation resistance, and corrosion resistance. - Due to its low density (about 4.0 g/㎤), it is possible to reduce the weight of parts. - This material is used especially for power generation turbine blades, aviation LPT blades, and automotive turbocharger wheels. ◇ AM Research We were able to identify crack-free microstructure through the Hot isostatic pressing (HIP) process. We will challenge complex shapes and huge sizes through the study of additive manufacturing processes.

Pure Aluminum Deposition Test

Manufacturing possilbility confirmed : Pure Aluminum with both IR laser and Blue laser - Deposition tests of Pure Aluminum (UNS A91070) material were conducted with IR Laser and Blue Laser. - In general, aluminum is difficult to manufacture with an IR laser. InssTek secured the process parameter of Pure Aluminum through a delicate process (Both IR Laser & Blue Laser). - There was no defect inside of both samples and we are planning to do further research with two laser sources to adapt industrial cases.

Case Study.22_FGM Rocket Nozzle[SS316L+Al-Bronze]

FGM Rocket Nozzle! Using MX-Fab and PCM-Multi, which are fit for multi-material, InssTek applied the research-focused FGM to an actual Rocket Nozzle shape and confirmed its possibility. - Materials Top: Al-Bronze (UNS C95300) Bottom: SS316L (UNS S31603) FGM Rocket Nozzle has been successfully manufactured through various tests and process optimization, and the research is still ongoing for further application of more materials to space industry parts.

Case Study.20_Multi-Material Rocket Nozzle[Nimonic75,IN718+A…

“Multi-Material Rocket Nozzle” We have completed the production of a multi-material rocket nozzle. ☑️ Material: Nimonic75 (90%), IN718 (Outer) + Al-Bronze (Cooling Channel & Inner) ☑️ Size: Width - 420mm (Top) / 382mm (Bottom), Height - 552mm ☑️ Machine used: MX-1000 (SDM2400) ☑️ Production period : 200hr It wasn't easy to print but completed without trial and error with the efforts of many staff and our stable technology.

Case Study.19_Multi-Material Research [SDSS+SS316L]

"Multi-Material (SDSS + SS316L)" SDSS(Supper Duplex Stainless Steel) is a material that has both austenite and ferrite phases. It has excellent machinability/excellent mechanical properties/excellent corrosion resistance/high low-temperature impact toughness. In this case study, multi-material samples of SS316L and SDSS were manufactured by MX-Fab, the possibility of multi-material was evaluated by mechanical property evaluation/microstructure analysis/bonding interface analysis and selecting the optimum heat treatment for securing ferrite contents within the range. Finally, SDSS(inner) + SS316L(Outer) multi-material valve production and accepted the pressure test twice the operating pressure without any problem.

Case Study.18_MMC Research [Al+Al2O3]

“DED system MX-Lab that makes new alloys MMCs” This Metal Matrix Composites(MMC) demo shows how easy it is to research new material with the MX-Lab machine. In this demo, we stated Al and Al2O3 mixing the powder in 9:1, 8:2, 7:3, 5:5 ratio. After deposit, the specimens of MMC(Metal Matrix Composites) were analyzed by SEM & EDS and Wear Test. As a result of the wear test, it was confirmed that the amount of wear was significantly improved compared to the existing pure Al and Al-based alloys. Start making your own alloys with InssTek's MX-Lab!
